Birds, birds, birds!
We had a huge snow a few weeks ago and then a deep freeze. Dean tried to thaw water with our bird bath heater, but it was too cold. I didn’t see any birds except for the occasional crow and one day I saw some dark-eyed juncos hopping about looking for food under the azalea bushes.
Today the temperature is expected to get to 50° F. Note, it was just as warm yesterday, but I didn’t pay attention to the out-of-doors as I was immersed in a mobile video game all day. Anyway, the birds are everywhere today. I ran Merlin for about 45 seconds and it returned a list of ten birds including: American crow, fish crow, white-throated sparrow, downy woodpecker, starling, and house sparrow. I also saw dark-eyed juncos, American robins, and one red-bellied woodpecker.
Pony and Waffle
Pony has loved being brushed ever since he started living here. Waffle, not so much. It used to be a routine to brush Pony in the attic on the cat tree right after breakfast, but I quit remembering and went months without brushing either cat. Lately, however, I am remembering to do it more often and I usually sing a song when I do:
It's brushing time
It's brushing time
It's brushing time for Pony
Brush, brush, brush
Brushing time for Pony.
All I have to do now is start singing — it can be that song, but it can also be anything else — and Pony comes running. Better yet, Waffle follows him and now she enjoys being brushed too.
